ABOUT US
Victory Youth Training Academy is a 501c3 non-profit that uses sports education to build character and academic success in under-served communities in New Orleans.
In the past 9 years, our programming has reached hundreds of children at a variety of community sites such as Akili Academy, Arise Academy, Arthur Ashe Charter School, Joseph S. Clark Preparatory High School, Langston Hughes Academy, Samuel J. Green Charter School and New Orleans Recreation Development Commission centers.
Student motivation is a major hurdle for teachers in New Orleans to engage students in academic success. Poor student motivation results in low academic performance and high rates of absenteeism for elementary school children. These factors impact student self-esteem and produce hopelessness for the future. The life coaches and teachers with Victory Youth Training Academy identify the gaps in each student’s development and work to fill in those deficits with after school tutorial, character building and family management.
